Shahjahanpur: Uttar Pradesh Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna on Saturday distributed financial assistance cheques to disaster-affected families and beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Farmers’ Accident Welfare Scheme.
A programme organised at the Vikas Bhavan auditorium on Saturday.
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Cooperative Department, J. P. S. Rathore, attended the event as the special guest. Several public representatives and senior district officials, including District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh and Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Arvind Kumar, were present on the occasion.
The cheques were distributed to families affected by recent natural calamities and eligible beneficiaries under the state welfare scheme.
Addressing the gathering, Khanna said that while no financial assistance could compensate for the loss of life, the state government was committed to providing relief and support to affected families during difficult times.
He said immediate assistance had been extended to those affected by recent storms and unseasonal rainfall in the state and assured that the government stood firmly with every affected family.
Officials said a family from Bhikhampur Kheda Bajheda village under Tilhar tehsil was provided ₹4 lakh following the death of a man after an electric pole collapsed during a storm.
Financial assistance of ₹37,500 each was also provided to livestock owners whose buffaloes died in separate storm-related incidents.
Under the Chief Minister Farmers’ Accident Welfare Scheme, Shahjahanpur district has received ₹6.60 crore from the state government, benefiting 157 eligible persons. Symbolic cheques were also handed over to selected beneficiaries during the event.
The programme concluded with officials reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring timely and transparent assistance to all eligible beneficiaries.
