Shahjahanpur: Teachers’ Association of recognised Basic school staged a protest at the Collectorate premises and submitted a memorandum to the SDM, At the time , Association Demands Equal facilities.
Association President Manoj Yadav said that a large part of the state’s education system depends on private schools, where lakhs of teachers are working with limited resources to educate children. Despite this, they are not receiving proper remuneration and are being deprived of government scheme benefits.
In the memorandum, the association demanded implementation of the principle of “equal pay for equal work.” Teachers also urged the government to fix a minimum honorarium for private school teachers on the lines of the stipend provided to Shiksha Mitras.
The association further demanded that students of recognised schools be provided free uniforms, books, and other essential facilities. They also requested financial assistance of ₹1,200 to be transferred to parents’ accounts and extension of benefits under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 to such schools.
Additionally, the memorandum called for uniformity in curriculum and facilities across different education boards, including CBSE, ICSE, and the UP Board. Teachers also demanded voting rights in the teachers’ constituency so that they can elect their representatives.
Other demands included simplification of the registration process on the UDISE portal, administrative autonomy for schools, and ensuring equal opportunities in the education system. The association warned that if their demands are not addressed soon, they will be forced to launch a larger agitation.
