A commemorative event was held today at the mausoleum of Martyr Ashfaqulla Khan to mark his birth anniversary.
The program organized by his grandson, Afaqulla Khan. chief guest, District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh,paid tribute to
freedom fighter, a ceremonial cloth at the martyr’s shrine.
On the occasion the District Magistrate D.P.singh highlighted the significant role of Ashfaqulla Khan in the struggle for India’s independence, stating, “Today, we breathe freely in an independent country, thanks in part to the sacrifices made by Martyr Ashfaqulla Khan.”
Afaqulla Khan reminisced about his grandfather’s bravery, recalling the historic incident at Kakori Railway Station where Ashfaqulla Khan, along with fellow freedom fighters Ram Prasad Bismil and Roshan Singh, executed a daring robbery against the British government, shaking the foundations of colonial rule. Following this event, the British authorities launched a crackdown, leading to the arrest of these young revolutionaries, who were ultimately hanged in various prisons.
“We pay homage to these great sons of the nation,” Afaqulla Khan added.
After the ceremony at the mausoleum, the District Magistrate visited the family home of Ashfaqulla Khan to engage in discussions with family members.
At the time Mujibur Rahman Khan, Afaq Hussain Khan, Majood Khan, Bhanu Prakash, Mukesh Rathore, Jitendra Verma (Councilor), Mahboob Hussain Idrisi, Mahboobullah Khan, Asgar, Pawan Singh, and Syed Ansari were present.
