A total of 1.51 lakh cases of various categories were disposed of during the National Lok Adalat held on Saturday At shahjahanpur . District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Shahjahanpur, officials said.
The National Lok Adalat was organised on the Civil Court premises under the chairmanship of District Judge and Chairman, DLSA, Vishnu Kumar Sharma, in compliance with the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi.
According to DLSA Secretary Mrs Apeksha Singh, as many as 9,296 pending cases in different courts were settled, leading to the recovery of Rs 3.21 crore in fines. Besides, over 1.25 lakh revenue cases were disposed of by various revenue courts.
A total of 4,373 online challan-related cases were also settled and Rs 37.98 lakh was realised as compounding fees. In addition, 656 pre-litigation loan recovery matters relating to different banks were resolved through settlements involving loan accounts worth Rs 6 crore.
The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT), Shahjahanpur, presided over by Rizwan Ahmad, disposed of 39 motor accident claim cases and awarded compensation amounting to Rs 3.12 crore.
In a significant settlement, Motor Accident Claim Petition No. 477/2021 — Kahkasha vs ICICI Lombard General Insurance — was resolved in the Lok Adalat with a record compensation amount of Rs 42 lakh with the cooperation of advocates representing both parties.
The Lok Adalat also disposed of 10 old pending cases of different categories. Among them, the court of Additional District Judge No. 4 settled four cases pending for the last five years, while Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-I Ms Pratibha disposed of two cases pending for 20 years.

Judge family court disposed of 27 cases, including 15 criminal and 12 matrimonial matters, while the Additional Principal Judge, Family Court settled 18 matrimonial dispute.
And Judicial officers across various courts also disposed of a large number of criminal, civil, electricity and challan-related matters during the Lok Adalat proceedings.
District Judge Vishnu Kumar Sharma also interacted with a woman litigant, Devkali, who had defaulted on a Kisan Credit Card loan taken from the State Bank of India branch at Powayan. After hearing her grievance, the judge directed the concerned bank officials to provide relief in interest and reduce the repayment burden on the principal amount, enabling settlement of the dispute. Devkali expressed gratitude to the court and bank authorities.
An exhibition-cum-stall showcasing products made by inmates of the District Jail and children of the Government Children’s Home was also organised on the court premises. The exhibition displayed garments, bags, paintings, bakery products, decorative items and handicrafts prepared by inmates and children, drawing appreciation from judicial officers and visitors.
The National Lok Adalat commenced with floral tributes and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp in the presence of judicial officers, bank officials, advocates and court staff were present.
