A high-level meeting on traffic management and civic reforms was held in Shahjahanpur under the chairmanship of Suresh Kumar Khanna.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed the city’s traffic action plan and directed officials to strengthen traffic regulation and civic arrangements across the city area. Dharmendra Pratap Singh, Saurabh Dixit, the Municipal Commissioner, and senior departmental officials were present at the review meeting.
Addressing the officials, Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna issued strict instructions regarding traffic discipline and encroachment removal. He directed authorities to take stringent action against marriage halls and DJs violating the 10 p.m. noise deadline.
The minister said that fines should be imposed for the first and second violations, while legal action must be initiated against repeat offenders.
He also instructed officials to consult trader associations and representatives of other organisations before implementing major traffic reforms in the city. The Municipal Corporation was directed to identify five to six major roads and ensure improved traffic management on those routes.
Emphasising the need for strict action against encroachments, the minister ordered the removal of goods placed outside permitted shop limits by traders. He further directed officials to act against illegal roadside parking, while ensuring that public announcements are made before issuing challans.
The minister also asked authorities to develop proper parking facilities in the Ghantaghar, Keruganj and bus stand areas and to install adequate signboards for public convenience.
Stresssing the importance of public awareness, he said that awareness campaigns and roadshows should be organised before launching enforcement drives related to traffic regulation, parking management and anti-encroachment measures.
