Shahjahanpur । Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former Cabinet Minister in Uttar Pradesh Government Mohammad Azam Khan was released from Sitapur jail on Tuesday (September 23, 2025) after spending 23 months behind bars in connection with multiple criminal cases. However, Khan did not step out of his vehicle and greeted supporters with handshakes from inside the car before departing for Rampur.
on the occasion, SP district president Tanveer Khan described Azam Khan’s release as a victory for justice and the end of the harassment inflicted by the BJP government. He expressed confidence that the party, under the leadership of National President Akhilesh Yadav, would form the government in 2027.
Former minister Awadhesh Verma also welcomed the court’s decision, calling it proof that the law is equal for all and that justice has prevailed.
