UP: Acid Attack Survivor Gets ₹5 Lakh Compensation After 28 Years

43-year-old woman in Shahjahanpur has finally received ₹5 lakh as compensation. under the acid attack survivors’ scheme.
The incident dates back to October 28, 1997, when the survivor, then a 15-year-old girl, was attacked with acid by a man named Pappu from her locality under the Sadar Bazar police station area. The attack occurred after her family called off a proposed marriage with the accused.
Pappu was arrested within days of the crime and sent to jail on November 11, 1997.

She was just 15 when was
Attacked on her . She had been called to family mambers .theyinformed to Police . She said Over the years, my family and I suffered a lot due to my burn injuries.. Most of our income went into my treatment. Since 2015.
Now she is happy and
confirmed that she had received a cheque from the state government.

Jahida.
