SHAHJAHANPUR- District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh on Sunday conducted an on-site inspection of vulnerable and flood-prone areas and reviewed the preparedness and flood-control measures with officials.
During the inspection, the DM directed the concerned departments to remain fully alert and ensure the availability of necessary resources and response teams in vulnerable areas.
The District Magistrate said around 22,000 cusecs of water had been released into the Garra river from the Diyuni Barrage. The water is expected to reach the affected areas within the next 72 hours. He said the administration was keeping a close watch on the situation and taking necessary precautionary measures.
The DM also appealed to residents to avoid going near riverbanks, ghats and areas witnessing strong water currents. He urged people to keep children and cattle away from vulnerable locations and strictly follow the advisories issued by the administration.
He cautioned residents against paying heed to rumours and urged them to rely only on official information. “Remain alert and stay safe. The administration stands with you,” he said.
