Under the leadership of Samajwadi Party District President Tanveer Khan, the party submitted a 9-point memorandum to the Governor, addressed to the City Magistrate, highlighting various issues faced by the people.
On the occasion, Tanveer Khan said the BJP government of discriminating against and exploiting farmers through its policies. He stated that the district administration was unable to provide adequate supplies of DAP fertilizer, which was being sold in the black market, causing significant difficulties for farmers.
Tanveer further criticized the government’s actions at paddy procurement centers, where farmers’ produce was being purchased at very low prices, which he described as open exploitation of their hard work and crops. He warned that if this injustice continued, the Samajwadi Party would take to the streets and fight against the BJP government.
Former Minister Awadhesh Kumar Verma also commented on the issue, stating that the BJP government had only raised sugarcane prices twice in the past seven and a half years, while the Samajwadi Party had increased sugarcane prices every year during its tenure. He called the BJP government “anti-farmer” and said its policies were detrimental to the farming community.
