Police have successfully apprehended four members of a group involved in opium trafficking, recovering opium valued at ₹2.5 million. Among the arrested individuals, three are residents of Jharkhand, while one is from Shahjahanpur.
According to ASP City Sanjay Kumar, the arrests were made by the Roza police station following a tip-off regarding the opium trafficking gang. The traffickers were traveling by bus from Lucknow to Delhi when their bus broke down in Shahjahanpur, prompting them to wait for another bus. It was during this wait that the police team arrested them.
The police recovered over 8 kilograms of opium from the suspects, which is estimated to be worth approximately ₹25 lakhs in the international market. The arrested individuals revealed to the police that they purchased opium at lower prices in Jharkhand and transported it to Delhi for sale.
The arrested suspects include Yogendra, Ramjeevan, and Babloo Kumar, all from Jharkhand, while the fourth accused, Arvind, is a resident of the Tilhar area in Shahjahanpur district.
