Shahjahanpur: There is some relief in the flood situation in the district as the water level in the rivers is not expected to rise further, said the district administration.

According to District magistrate Dharmendra pratap Singh the water level in Garra river is likely to start falling within the next 24 hours. The water level in the Khannaut river is expected to decrease after around 48 hours. The fall in water levels is likely to bring relief to flood-hit areas.

He said administration is keeping a close watch on the river water levels.
DM also said A survey of crop damage in heavy rain is also being carried out. Farmers whose crops have suffered up to 33% damage will be given relief of Rs 17,000 per hectare,
DM said survey has been completed for around 333 hectares of land belonging to nearly 280 farmers. Data for relief of around Rs 56 lakh has also been entered.
Around 150 employees have been deployed to speed up the survey and relief work. All lekhpals have been asked to inspect the affected fields and submit reports.

Photographs are also being taken of crops that do not fall under the fixed compensation category so that the survey record can be maintained.

The survey and data entry work is still underway.
