Police registered an FIR against a man accused of threatening and allegedly opening fire at the son of a BJP Member of Parliament. Police said the accused has been booked under serious charges, including use of casteist slurs and criminal intimidation.
The incident reportedly occurred on the evening of April 27 in South City Colony. According to the complaint filed by Ankit Sagar, he was driving when he asked a man, Pankaj Pandey, to remove a scooter parked outside a house.
At that point, another man identified as Raghvendra Singh alias Neetu allegedly arrived, abused Ankit, and made caste-based remarks. The complaint states that he struck the bonnet of Ankit’s car and was carrying a country-made pistol.
The accused allegedly told Ankit, “Your family pretends to be very influential,” and then fired a shot when Ankit stepped out of the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Local residents gathered after hearing the gunshot, and the accused reportedly fled while issuing further threats. Ankit later informed his father, MP Arun Sagar, who alleged that the accused also contacted locals and made defamatory remarks against his family and party.
The MP further claimed that an audio clip circulating in the media contains abusive language allegedly used by the accused. He also accused a local political leader of trying to tarnish his image.
Police said teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the accused. Circle Officer (City) Pankaj Pant confirmed that a case has been registered based on the complaint and investigation is underway.
