Demand for Safety for Transgender Community in Uttar Pradesh
In Bund, Shahjahanpur district, Pinky Devi, the newly elected chief transgender leader, has called on the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the safety of the transgender community. She emphasized the need for protection for all transgender individuals and urged society to support their safety.
Pinky Devi, who took over the position following the death of Rama, another prominent transgender leader, expressed her concerns about the presence of fake transgenders who exploit the community for financial gain. She called for the identification and arrest of these individuals by the police to protect the reputation of the legitimate transgender community.
Following her election, Pinky Devi and other members of the community organized a procession and visited the Sunasiranath temple to pay their respects. The event attracted transgender individuals from Jaipur, Kanpur, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, and nearby districts.
Additional Superintendent of Police Manoj Awasthi confirmed that the transgender community had obtained prior permission for the procession, and police security was deployed to ensure the event proceeded smoothly.
