Shahjahanpur । A 22-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her brother in Shahjahanpur district after he objected to her speaking with male friends over the phone, the police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place in Itora Gotiya village, where the victim, Naina Devi, was attacked inside her home. According to Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi, the accused, Sher Singh, had claimed that his sister frequently spoke to several men over the phone and had ignored his objections.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Sher Singh had accessed audio recordings on his sister’s mobile phone, following which he reportedly flew into a rage. He allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting a fatal injury on her neck.
Sher Singh was arrested on Tuesday night and has been booked under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He has been remanded to judicial custody, the police said.
