Shahjahanpur, congress party leaders and activists held a protest after statues of Kakori movement heroes—Ashfaqulla Khan, Ram Prasad Bismil, Roshan Singh, and Prem Krishna Khanna—were found damaged.
Congress leaders said the incident was an insult to the nation and to the martyrs. They added that these freedom fighters gave their lives for the country and must always be respected.
Soon, many party workers gathered on the streets. Led by local leaders, they protested outside the city office, raised slogans, and demanded justice. The situation became tense, and officials had to step in to calm the crowd.
Congress leaders alleged that the statues were removed without proper permission. They asked the authorities to show any official order, if one exists. They also questioned the role of the mayor in the matter.
The protesters warned that if no action is taken within 24 hours, they will intensify their protest. Later, some workers visited a dumping site and claimed they found broken parts of the statues, which increased their anger.
The party has demanded a full investigation and strict action against those responsible. They said the protest will continue until justice is done.
