Former President Ram Nath Kovind to attend Basant Utsav
SHAHJAHANPUR: The historic city of Shahjahanpur is set to be steeped in spiritual fervour as the Shri Ram Chandra Mission gears up to celebrate its Golden Jubilee with the grand Basant Utsav 2026, to be held from February 12 to March 2 at the Mission’s ashram here.
The nearly 20-day-long spiritual congregation, to be conducted in five phases, is expected to witness the participation of 25,000 to 30,000 spiritual practitioners from across the country and abroad. Former President Ram Nath Kovind is expected to grace the occasion, lending national significance to the celebrations.
Addressing a press conference, organiser Madhav Gopal Agrawal said the Shri Ram Chandra Mission, founded in 1945 by Mahatma Ram Chandra Ji Maharaj, has grown into a global spiritual movement with centres in 164 countries. The Mission’s first ashram in Shahjahanpur, established in 1976, has since evolved into a prominent hub of meditation, service and spiritual discipline. As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, the ashram has undergone extensive renovation, he added.
The Basant Utsav will be held under the guidance of the Mission’s global president Kamlesh D. Patel (Daaji), who is scheduled to arrive in Shahjahanpur on February 11. The five phases of the festival are slated for February 12–14, 16–18, 20–22, 24–26, and February 28 to March 2.
Organisers said elaborate arrangements have been put in place to accommodate visiting participants, with lodging facilities arranged at the ashram as well as in hotels and guest houses across the city. Meals will be provided within the ashram premises, while dedicated bus services will ferry participants between the railway station, bus stand and the venue.
A large team of volunteers will remain on duty round the clock, with additional assistance extended at Lucknow and Delhi airports and major railway stations to facilitate the smooth arrival of devotees.
The programme will feature meditation sessions, spiritual camps and satsangs, aimed at guiding individuals towards inner peace and a contemplative way of life. Organisers described the Golden Jubilee celebrations as not merely a retrospective, but a renewed commitment to the Mission’s enduring spiritual vision.
Media in-charge Suyash Sinha and other organisers were also present at the press conference.
