A day after Holi concluded peacefully across the district, the police administration celebrated the festival with enthusiasm at the Police Lines on Thursday. Amid splashes of colours, gulal and lively DJ music, officers and police personnel played Holi and exchanged festive greetings.

District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi, and SP Rural Diksha Arun Bhaware, along with several other officers and staff members, were present at the celebration.

The celebrations came after the successful and peaceful conduct of the traditional “Lat Sahib” procession, which is considered one of the most distinctive Holi traditions of Shahjahanpur. The police administration had been preparing for nearly two months to ensure smooth conduct of the procession. Several meetings were held and personnel were given necessary instructions and training related to their duties.

On the day of Holi, the procession passed off peacefully, with no untoward incidents reported from anywhere in the district. Appreciating the efforts of the police team, the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police had earlier thanked the personnel for ensuring a smooth celebration.

To mark the success, a festive gathering was organised at the Police Lines on Thursday, with special arrangements for water, colours and DJ music.

During the celebrations, SP City Devendra Singh drew cheers as he draped a chunari over his head and danced to the beats of the DJ, prompting fellow officers and personnel to join in. He later placed the chunari on the District Magistrate’s head as well, following which the DM too joined the dancing amid applause.
