Rising water levels in the Garra and Khannaut rivers have led to severe flooding in several areas of Shahjahanpur, submerging multiple residential colonies. In response, the district administration has ramped up relief operations to assist affected families.
The worst-hit area, Subhashnagar Colony, witnessed proactive efforts from the administration as ADM (Finance & Revenue) Arvind Kumar reached the flood-affected families via boat and distributed lunch packets door-to-door.
Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna visited Ward No. 48’s Nisrajai locality and distributed relief materials to flood victims. He assured the residents that the government stands firmly with them during this crisis.

In South City Colony, Abhishek Sagar, son of local MP Arun Sagar, along with his team, distributed essential supplies including food, drinking water, and milk to the affected people.
In Nizampur Gautia, a crucial approach road to a bridge was damaged due to floodwaters. District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh visited the site and directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to install protective barricades and signage to ensure the safe movement of vehicles.
Meanwhile, Azizganj, Kanshiram Colony, and Awas Vikas Colony have also been inundated. The primary cause of flooding in these areas has been identified as the overflow of a large drainage canal. Tensions rose in Kanshiram Colony and Azizganj when local councilors and residents clashed over whether to block the canal with soil. One group opposed the move while the other insisted on closing the canal to prevent further flooding.
Upon receiving reports of the dispute, the Municipal Commissioner rushed to the site and is currently mediating discussions between the two parties.
