Shahjahanpur: In a major relief for residents long troubled by battered and potholed roads, the Yogi Adityanath government has approved an ambitious proposal for the reconstruction, widening and strengthening of 109 roads in the Shahjahanpur municipal area. The project, sanctioned at a cost of ₹74.67 crore, is expected to significantly upgrade the city’s road network.
For several years, ongoing sewer disposal works and pipeline installations under the AMRUT scheme had left many roads badly damaged. Locals had been grappling with dust, potholes and frequent traffic disruptions. With the state government now clearing the detailed proposal submitted by the Municipal Corporation, the path for large-scale redevelopment has opened.
According to the project plan, 42 roads will be rebuilt using hot-mix technology, while 67 stretches will be developed as concrete (CC) roads. The move is expected to improve connectivity from major thoroughfares to inner residential lanes, easing traffic flow across the city. Commercial activity is also likely to gain fresh momentum once the upgrades are completed.
State Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, who played a key role in securing approval for this major infrastructure package, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Khanna’s initiative is being viewed as a significant step towards transforming Shahjahanpur with a modern and durable road network.
Residents now hope that the completion of these projects will dramatically change the face of Shahjahanpur, paving the way for smoother traffic and a stronger urban infrastructure framework.
