District Magistrate Dharmendra pratap singh carried out a surprise inspection of Katra Nagar Panchayat on Thursday.
During the inspection, the DM examined various official records at the Nagar Panchayat office, with particular focus on birth and death registers. He directed officials to maintain a separate daily register for applications related to birth and death certificates to ensure systematic record-keeping and transparency in functioning.
Reviewing the under-construction meeting hall being built under the 15th Finance Commission, Singh took stock of the progress and instructed officials to undertake necessary renovation work to enhance facilities for public representatives and administrative meetings.
The DM also inspected the overhead water tank being constructed by the Jal Nigam to strengthen drinking water supply in the area. Officials informed him that the project is slated for completion by June 2026. Singh emphasised adherence to the timeline and maintenance of quality standards to ensure uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water to residents.
In another key direction, the DM ordered demolition of a dilapidated and unused building of the Agriculture Protection Unit located near the Nagar Panchayat office and instructed authorities to develop a park and other public utility facilities on the site.
He further inspected encroachment-free land bearing Gata numbers 1406 and 1403 and directed the Executive Officer to immediately initiate construction of shops to augment the Nagar Panchayat’s revenue and provide better civic amenities to locals.
