Shahjahanpur: In a major action under the government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Organization of Bareilly Division arrested a Block Education Officer and an assistant teacher red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 on Monday.
The trap team, led by Inspector-in-Charge Jitendra Singh and acting on orders from the Lucknow headquarters, caught Block Education Officer Satish Kumar Mishra and assistant teacher Sushil Kumar Singh, posted at Kalan Block, near a sweet shop opposite the Government Inter College in Kalan town.
The action followed a complaint filed by W. Kumar, a headmaster posted at a primary school in Kalan Block, who alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe in exchange for settling a matter related to his absence from duty. After verification of the complaint, the trap team laid a plan and arrested both officials while accepting the bribe amount.
A case has been registered against the accused at Katra Police Station under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further legal proceedings are underway.
