Shahjahanpur: DM Reviews City Development, Traffic and Infrastructure Plans in Key Meeting

Shahjahanpur: District Magistrate Dharmendra Pratap Singh chaired an important review meeting on Tuesday to assess ongoing and proposed initiatives related to city development, traffic management, road construction, and urban cleanliness.
During the meeting, the DM issued strict instructions for the removal of illegal encroachments and stressed the need for effective measures to reduce traffic congestion across the city. He stated that while public awareness campaigns will be conducted, strict enforcement action will also be taken wherever required. Shopkeepers found displaying goods outside their shop premises will be fined ₹1,500. He further made the use of helmets mandatory for all two-wheeler riders, warning of penalties for violations.
The administration also presented an extensive road development plan under which approximately 109 roads in the city will be repaired and constructed, with an estimated budget of ₹75 crore. Officials have been directed to complete repair work before the onset of the monsoon season, followed by the construction of new bituminous roads after the rains. The overall target has been set to complete all road-related projects by Diwali.
The DM also instructed officials to ensure proper maintenance of cleanliness and street lighting across the city. Additionally, he directed that e-rickshaws operate only on designated routes to streamline traffic flow.
He said that with coordinated efforts between the administration and the public, significant improvements in the city’s civic infrastructure are expected within the next two months.
