A fire broke out in a slum settlement in Uttar Pradesh’s capital, Lucknow, on Wednesday evening, officials said. No casualties have been reported so far.
Taking cognisance of the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to expedite relief and rescue operations. Several fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the spot and efforts are underway to douse the flames.
According to officials, the fire erupted in the slums of Vikas Nagar area, where more than two dozen shanties were gutted. The blaze had not been completely brought under control at the time of filing this report.
