District Magistrate ,a two-member inquiry committee was formed to investigate the recent maternal death at Shahjahanpur Medical College.
A few days ago, after the death of a woman during childbirth, Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) Arvind Kumar visited the Government Medical College to conduct a detailed investigation. The ADM examined CCTV footage from the district hospital and recorded statements of staff members present on duty.
Deceased father complaint to DM Dharmendra Pratap Singh, journalist Kamal Rawat stated that he had admitted his daughter Priyanka to the medical college for delivery on 16 November. According to the complaint, Doctor initially assured the family that it would be a normal delivery. However, when Priyanka’s condition deteriorated at night, he reportedly said doctors advising the family to shift her to a private hospital.
Rawat alleged that after speaking to Principal Rajesh Kumar, he was told that the operation could be done at the medical college itself. Doctor reportedly claimed that he had spoken to lady doctor and had prescribed some medicines to be purchased from outside, along with arranging blood. Soon after the medicines were administered, Priyanka began to bleed heavily. The complaint states that lady Doctor continued to delay treatment. Rawat alleged that due to the doctors’ negligence—supposedly because he was a journalist and they expected money—his daughter lost her life.
The ADM and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) have completed their on-site inspection and prepared the investigation report. The evidence collected during the ADM’s inspection has created a stir among the medical college staff.
