SHAHJAHANPUR: G.F. College organised a large-scale tree plantation drive on its campus under the *‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’* campaign, with around 1,000 saplings planted to promote environmental conservation and enhance green cover.
Addressing the gathering, College Principal Prof. Mohsin Hasan Khan said that trees play a vital role in protecting the environment and ensuring a clean and healthy future for coming generations. He urged students, faculty members and the public to plant more saplings and take responsibility for their care and maintenance.
The drive included the plantation of medicinal, shade-giving and fruit-bearing species, including tamarind, blackberry, mango, amla, sheesham and eucalyptus. The initiative was aimed at raising awareness about environmental conservation and encouraging sustainable development.
The programme was organised under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Shoaib, In-charge of the Land and Garden Committee, while Dr. Rais Ahmad coordinated the event.
Faculty members, non-teaching staff and students pledged to protect and nurture the saplings planted under the campaign and to spread awareness about the importance of tree plantation. Volunteers of NCC, NSS and Rangers-Rovers also participated in the drive and pledged to ensure the survival of the saplings.
Among those present were Prof. Faiyaz Ahmad, Dr. Abdul Salam, Dr. Khalil Ahmad, Syed Suhail Akhtar Naqvi, Syed Aurangzeb, NCC In-charge Dr. Imran Khan, NSS In-charge Dr. Saman Zahra Zaidi, Dr. Raza Rasool, Dr. Nizamuddin Khan, Syed Saad of the Green Campus Committee, Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Minhazul Hoda, Urouz Sharik, besides a large number of students and members of the teaching and non-teaching staff were present.
