A major road accident occurred in the Khajiya Nagla area of Mirzapur police station in Shahjahanpur, resulting in 21 farmers being injured. The farmers were traveling in a private bus from Paror region to attend the Kisan Mela (Farmers’ Fair) in Lucknow. The bus overturned when the driver swerved to avoid a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, causing the vehicle to plunge into a ditch.
The injured, including several elderly passengers, were initially treated at the CHC (Community Health Centre) in Jariyanpur. One individual, identified as Dev Singh (33), sustained severe injuries and was referred to the district hospital in Shahjahanpur.
